Run 3D FPS game in web
Playing a 3D game in web browsers is unusual for many gamers, however, Mozilla breaks that barrier by launching BananaBread—a first-person shooter 3D game that has the capability to run in modern versions of browsers, including Firefox and Chrome. The engine used from Cube 2: Sauerbraten is adapted to this shooting game, which is written in C++ and OpenGL and compiles it using Emscripten. This makes it possible for you to operate the game with the latest web browsers in the cyber world. It was developed to prove that game of this nature can actually work in JavaScript and WebGL thus, it can also be played without the need for plugins.
Exciting browser-based gun-shooting game
BananaBread offers 5 breathtaking levels: Arena, Two Towers, Lava Chamber, Future, and Lava Rooms. These five game levels showcase different game settings. For level 1 (Arena), you’ll play in a small arena that requires you to show your combat skills and kill as many enemies as you want. Game level 2 (Two Towers) displays two separated large castles wherein you have to walk in the grounds and climb up the towers. Game Level 3 (Lava Chamber) presents underground halls with an enormous chamber of lava and rooms with pools of water and complex columns beside it. The challenge is you need to find three teleporters inside the establishment. Both levels 4 (Future) and 5 (Lava Rooms) are experimental that exhibit sci-fi styled space and smaller rooms of lava chamber respectively.
The game controls of BananaBread supports mouse and keyboard keys. W, A, S, and D letter keys are for moving your character, space bar is for jumping, number keys 1 to 5 are for changing weapons. Meanwhile, the mouse is for roaming around the game, as well as the shooting of enemies. On a different note, this shooting game allows you to choose the game resolution you prefer to play with. You can decide between Low or High Resolution, depending on the performance of your system. Take note that if you choose the high resolution for older engines, the game pace can be slow.
It is no doubt that with the creation of BananaBread, it revolutionizes the operation of browser games, especially game genres such as FPS 3D action game genres that are very unlikely to be played through the web. However, gamers who use Internet Explorer will be disappointed as the demo doesn’t run in it. Thus, if you are using the IE browser, this is not a recommended game for you. But, if you are using the latest version of Chrome and Firefox then, you can play now.
